A GOOD TIME IN PRISION

 Finally more art!!! Tough this time is not mine either but this is the first time i buy a commission in my entire life and the artists behind it is an alien dog called Astrek HollowHorn. I been following him for a few years already and his style really makes me happy....there is a way he draw eyes and smiles that looks both very sexy and very cute at the same time, plus the way he colors and his lineart have a very special style of its own that is easy to recognize.

He is a furry artists but since i am technically not a furry and have no fursona, i asked him for Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid, something i really wanted to see since last year Delta Remake. Something classic that makes me fantasy since 2004, the prision scene near the end of the game.

And as i was expecting, Astrek did an amazing job since not only Snake fits his style perfectly, but he actually likes Snake as well and thats something it shows on the amount of detail he puts on this art that reminds me the good old times when i feel excited to find a NSFW art of Snake. Also he sent me two versions; one with strong lightining and no background and another one with background and atmospheric lights and shadows, everything in a week time soo i am a very happy customer.

BARA IS DIYING

 As much as i disagree with this idea i seen a lot of artists using it latelly and is easy to understand why. Theres very few active bara artists by now, many of them turned into furry and the AI slop images dosnt help either.....i already seen a guy from the old Y! Gallery rejecting his 20 years of bara comic in order to turn 100% AI mass producer.

The truth is bara was a minority back at the begining of the century, it was a tiny part of the adult fandom at the shadow of the titan called Yaoi and while it get more recognition with time, in the end it seems is still at the shadow of both Yaoi and Furry art. I even got the feeling its even at the shadow of the shota comunity as well.

I find it odd that after soo long, human muscle men still dosnt have the same traction muscle animals have. Even in my country we have like 5 different 100% furry conventions against a single bara convention that is 60% furry. Its pretty easy to see it on twitter as well when a high quality bara art from a popular artists get 800 likes while a high quality furry art from a popular artist got 20 000 likes. The difference is brutal.

Then again, i love furry art and i love many of theyr artists and characters and i dont think they did something wrong, quiet the opposite. Furry comunity is pretty prone to bullying given they likes a more "evident" and they have firsuits and such things soo they had to join as a comunity and build a strong bonding between them and somehow, this has turned them into a huge powerhouse of resourses to the point at times, it looks like furry will conquer the world.

While bara artists are like islands on the sea of the internet. We seen each other as companions but we have yet to buid a strong fanbase like furrys does, and thats why we are still a niche inside a niche inside a niche and i feel guilty for it as well since i stoped drawing for a long time already and i am not doing my part.

I dont think bara will die but i do hope someday it cames out of the shadows and get the recognition it once started to had. I hope more bara artists appeare and more of the old artists came back as well. Hope i can do my part soon because bara needs a much stronger presence rigth now.

BARAPALOOZA THE THIRD

 

That time of the year is back, the Barapalooza in its third edition took place last weekend and it amaze me how fast time flys since my wallet is still hurt by the damage the second Barapalooza did it. This time tough there was activitys days before the event, like a Mario Kart tournament and a Drink and Draw and Fuck thingy where....asistants could drink alcohol, draw nude models and also have sex with other people around?? I dunno.....for me a bara convention has been always a dream but this kind of activitys were pretty outlandish for me.

I dont know how god turned out this activitys but the main event itself took place in a more fancy and expensive hotel and this time it has international guest artists as well as voice actors soo this convention is deffinetly expanding in pretty odd ways while the artists alley this time was the same size as last year.

My complaing from last time remains, there wasnt too much bara in the end since there was a mix with a lot of furry and bishounen/pretty boys and even yaoi, but they also mixed around clothing and photography. I wasnt the only one to notice since a friend of mine pointed it to me the bara content was too limited. Sadly, theres not much of a bara comunity in Mexico soo the event needs furry to be strong enough and mix all other kind of male erotica on it.

I still want a full bara event but i dont know if thats going to be ever posible given bara art is keept as a minority, tough variety helps to make the event more fun i guess and theres a lot of no-bara artists that have amazing skills and products to sell, soo i could not wish the event to took place without them.

Its a difficult idea to limit the artists to the name of the event or open it up to other styles, but still i am kinda sad some artists didnt sell too well while others (like the furrys) sould out theyr items and had a big production machinery behind. There was some artists i wish i had the chance to support but my budget was very limited thanks to Pawercon.

PRINCIPE CONEJO always have pretty cool stuff to sell, from collections of bara men cards to cereal boxes and surprise combos with keychains and other stuff soo this time i ony got a small Endeavor 2 sides Dakimakura in the size of a keychain. A normal Dakimakura take too much space soo this was perfect to me and i got an Endeavor card as well but i wish at some point i can buy his standees.

One of my main objectives was also the collection of keychains from EDD LAYER EX , his place was my first stop because i HAD to have this keychains of Solid Snake, Chris, Ryu and Endeavo. They are big and they are perfect and this man have really good taste in men and also he draws incredible and i regret not getting some prints of his art.

DON BARA BARA is one of the very first artists i meet at Barapalooza and the one that started my keychain collection soo this time i got his Chris and Lucas Lee keychains (Lucas Lee have a nude side) and one of his Oni charms that make wish comes true of you rub on his pecs. A pretty cool design and concept and he had other very amazing keychains and comics but y budget didnt let me got them.

One of the 3 international guest artists was BOWSERINA (and also the very first female) and she was also my main goal in this event because.....GOLIATH!!! Hey Goliath keychain is the coolest thing i ever seen and i wasnt expecting to find Gargoyles here. I even got two of this and also a Kaiman one. Her art style is soo amazing and she had soo much stuff i wanted, like plushies, and standees and a Beast keychain and really regret not getting more from her.

In Pawercon the only bara material i got was from LANCER and this time the only furry material i got was from him: a metalic Ben Biggers print from ZZZ.

One of my favorite artists in last years is PUMPKING WOLF , his artsyle is incrediblly stylish, sexy and cartoonis enough to be very fluid but extremellycool at the same time. He draws mostly furry but here i find some of his bara human art and i just love soo much the way he draws, and the way he paints, and his subjects and pretty much everything....i only got two prints but damn, i want every single art he does printed like this.

In this convention i actually meet in person someone very special called KARULOX . We meet long loong loong time ago at Y!Gallery (at my time when i used to draw the most) and i finally had the chance to meet him and see how wonderfull he is in person. One of the original bara artists, i got postcard prints of his art Archie, James, Geralt, Snow and Jecht as well as a keychain, four pins and a lanyard based on his game WET DREAMS SPA he build all by himself. PLEASE GO PLAY HIS GAME!!

And laslty i got lots of stuff from ABSOLUM : two pretty cool and stylish Ryu and Chris keychains (the Chris one includes RE5 and RE8 versions of him in each side), his amazing artbook Grimorio, art prints from Smael, Metal Gear Solid, Devilman and Street Fighter and a poster of the cover of Blazing Strike. I love his art and really admire him!!

He also signed my Blazing Strike artbook!! I know he has no bloogspot but if he evers comes around here: THANK YOU SOO MUCH!! YOUR ART IS AN ENDLESS FOUNTIAN OF JOY!!

There was soo amazing stuff i wasnt able to buy but i just hope next year i can support this amazing artists and meet again long time firends i lost contact with them because, while the bara isnt as present as i wished for, this event is still unique and an amazing way to keep in contact with the besta rtists out there.

BARAPALOOZA THE SECOND

 

And just half a year later Barapalooza was back. I didnt expect it too soon to be honest since the first one didnt had too much time to organize and my wallter was still in rehab after spent too much money on bara stuff last year, but it was back anyway we like it or not.

But this time was much much bigger, twice as bigger, with more artists, less yaoi and more furry as well. New artists who where missing in the first eddition as well as old friends, lots of cosplay this time (mostly half nude men in puppy mask) and activitys with prices and events, tough still contained in a medium size place.

First day was incrediblly full of people and actually most of the merch was sold out that very same day!!! I am very glad for the artists but i wasnt able to buy some of the products i wanted thanks to it. Also every time you buy somethign form an artists, they give you a small sticker for the conbook and once you get the stickers of all artists they give you a coin cnmemorative of the event. I really wanted the coin but buy something from each artists was way too much.

There was still a lot of bara artists missing but i am glad to see this event taking shape with each edition and i hope they later bring artists from another countrys as well and again, i felt "strange" buying this kind of stuff actually but this is a dream come true, specially at the begining of the century who started to see the bara art style born.

Two of the postcards are from the first event but the conbook was improved and not only is much bigger now but the activitys with the stickers were a nice idea, tough get all of them was a heavy duty for a wallet.

Git this book marker from ADRIXADRIX and i am actually tempted to use it even with the risky for people to find it since even in the clothed side this is very sexy looking.

This keychain is from EDD LAYER EX and i love it soo much!! He also had a Chris Redfield one i really regret not getting and some really amazing art prints as well that were sadlly sold out when i arrived.

This stickers from Ryu and King and the Snake keychain are from HTOAST ART he have such nice art style but i adore the two sides keychain of Snake!!! I cant belive there was this much Metal Gear Solid merch.

This stickers and keychain are from DUALSIDERS he was doing an activity where let you scratch on some of his little monsters mascots image and depending of the number you get you get a different price as well as the stickers of the creatures.

This is a Barafuda card collection from LE BARA ILLUSTRE he also had some awesome but really huge posters.

Stickers, art prints and more keychains from LUPIN ART and again, while i loved the Chris Redfield keychain, the Solid Snake one is soo awesome and makes me soo hapy, but also makes me soo happy that they are producing high quality porn art of Final Fantays XVI.

This is an artprint of FUHRER DOODLES and again, more Snake!!! But also i regret not getting more stuff from him since the qualty of his art is soo crazy high and hard to belive.

Stickers, cards, art prints and even more keychains and a mousepad from PRINCIPE CONEJO he had soo many merch it was pretty difficult to choce.

More Final Fantasy XVI!! Made with the beautifull style of FROSTED KNIGTH as well as more Endeavor and two pretty thick doujinshis of pornish adventures between Endeavor and Hawks.

No standee this time (tough i leave some i really want) btu instead i got a 3D mousepad from Endeavor made by Frosted Knight and is hard to describe or see in here, but the colors are soo beautifull and looks almost iridiscent. Her art is juts soo amazing!!

IT´S A NICE DAY TO PLAY UNDER THE SUN

I made a promise to not post anything more than art in here, sadly i dont have anything new from me to show but i do have an artwork made by another artists, a bara commission by Hasout that includes Miguel Caballero Rojo from Tekken and my own original character; Alexander Gates.

Its very rare to see Miguel art by now, somehow everyone is drawing Carlos Oliveira but Miguel seems to be in obscurity by now but i hope he comes to the spotligth agan in Tekken 8 and my Alex, well, its been soo long since i seen him and is always soo exciting to see him with the style of a different artist.

I love the style of Hasout, with enough realism to make it exciting and enough fantasy to make it interesting, he is really good at drawing hairy bodys and his wamr coloring is such a threat! I love how he draw Miguel but my favorite part is deffinetly Alex Gates, he looks beyond perfect.

This was a gift from my wonderfull boyfriend who knows me very well and makes the world better not only for me but for everyone by comissioning Miguel pornish art!! I love him!!

BARAPALOOZA

 A blog entry!!! This time around is not about art of mine but about an event taking place here in Mexico; a Barapalooza, the first bara convention of the country. Something like that was just a dream 20 years ago, a place to enjoy all things bara and meet artists about the subject, finally away from the clutches of yaoi.

Tough since quiet some years ago we been having yaoi conventions as well as furry conventions. The furry conventions are specially lush and expensive....and i had my doubts about a bara convention and this Barapalooza confirmed them: there is very few artists in Mexico drawing bara....and the few they are arent very well organized, not like the furry fandom that works like a clockwork or the yaoi that have theyr strengnth in numbers. Bara is still a niche genere despite its boom on twitter.

Barapalooza took place in a tiny space and it was more like "Furrypalooza" since it had lots of furry artists. The line that divide furry and bara is soo thin and blur soo i guess its OK, many of this furry artists had really amazing art and very high quality merch i really enjoyed!! 

There was also some "yaoi" artists and sadly, theyr places were pretty empty since all public went directly to the bara sections. I guess this was to be expected but like i said, theres not that many bara artists in Mexico to fill each space, at least not this time since the convention didnt had too much time to organize.

All artists were soo nice, a true pleasure to meet them and i finally see after a long time ago old friends like Kerainen or Le Bara Illustree or really classics like Pirate or Dualsiders. There was really pro artists but also newbies who are starting to let theyr art be known on the internet and i like that a lot, theres a lot of talent and ilusion on them and i am glad they have a space to show theyr art outside of the internet.

My only regret is that i wasnt able to support as many artists as i wanted to. I spent much more than i was expecting and try to buy merch to as many artists as i could, but still there was some pretty cool products i had to let them pass and i am thinking on contacting this artists to buy theyr stuff later.

Overall this event was small and could use much more bara into the mix, but it was really fun and interesting and is a great start for something big someday. Deffinetly a first step for the 20 years old dream of a bara convention.
